The Birthing Engine Automaton

I became enamored of the Geneva Stop and created the automaton around this ingenious device sometimes used in motion-picture film cameras.

The mother figure exerts herself, a bell rings, a baby emerges, and the doctor's mouth opens in disbelief. The cycle repeats quickly and endlessly.

The antique qualities and subject matter of the piece suggest it is from an era when large families and bawdy humor were more common than today.
